From kickoff to launch

01Scope

Chroma Labs had the research team and the models but no product shell. They needed a workbench that serious practitioners would trust and curious beginners could enter without embarrassment.

We delivered the brand, the workspace application, a real-time 3D visualizer for model internals, and the marketing site that introduces all of it.

02Approach

The product language leans professional-tool rather than conversational-friend. Dense panels, keyboard-first input, a palette that stays out of the way of the work. Every screen was designed to be screenshotted into a paper without looking out of place.

The 3D visualizer runs on React Three Fiber with a custom shader pipeline for attention maps. We built the brand simultaneously with the app so typography and motion language are shared across surfaces — the marketing site is the same system turned outward.

We shipped in small vertical slices behind a private beta gate, collecting live session recordings weekly so the team could watch real researchers use the thing instead of guessing from survey data.

03Outcome

Twelve thousand qualified beta signups in the first thirty days after public launch, an active-weekly retention ratio above 0.6, and a product aesthetic the founders can now defend without a deck.
